Omar Assar, player of Al-Ahly Club and the Egyptian table tennis team, qualified for the round of 16 at the World Championship currently being held in South Africa.
Asr advanced to the round of 16 after beating Sweden's Truls Morrigaard 4-2.

Omar started the tournament by beating Ecuadorian champions Albert Mino 4-3 after a marathon match to qualify for the second round.
