The countdown to the FIFA World Cup 2026 has taken another exciting step as FIFA officially unveiled the tournament mascots.

For the first time in history, the World Cup will feature 48 national teams and will be hosted across three countries: the US, Mexico, and Canada.

Each host nation will be represented by a mascot inspired by a culturally significant animal: Maple the moose (Canada), Zayu the jaguar (Mexico), and Clutch the bald eagle (USA).

According to FIFA, the mascots are designed not only to inspire fans but also to celebrate the unique culture, heritage, and diversity of each host country.

The organization emphasized that they symbolize the core values of football unity, diversity, and passion.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the unveiling as a historic milestone: “The World Cup family has grown more vibrant with the addition of Maple, Zayu, and Clutch, who embody joy, energy, and togetherness, just like the tournament itself. I can already picture children wearing their images on jerseys, fans encountering them in stadiums, and even seeing them come to life in video games. They will capture the hearts of millions worldwide.”

Maple (Canada) is a lively moose who loves traveling across the provinces, engaging with people, and celebrating Canada’s rich cultural diversity.

Maple is passionate about art, music, and football, with a special talent for goalkeeping. His creativity, resilience, and leadership reflect both Canadian spirit and football magic.

Zayu (Mexico) is powerful jaguar from the jungles of southern Mexico, Zayu embodies the country’s deep cultural traditions and festive energy. On the pitch, he is a fierce striker known for agility, speed, and sharp instincts.

Off the field, Zayu embraces Mexican culture through dance, cuisine, and traditions, uniting fans with pride and passion.

Clutch (USA) is bold bald eagle who thrives on adventure, soaring across the United States to celebrate the nation’s diverse cultures.

On the pitch, Clutch is a natural midfielder and team leader, turning every challenge into an opportunity.

Off the field, his optimism, social spirit, and boundless curiosity make him a symbol of unity wherever he goes.

The introduction of these mascots marks a new era for the World Cup, not only because of its expanded format and unique tri-nation hosting but also because of the cultural storytelling they bring.

Together, Maple, Zayu, and Clutch are set to become global icons of football, joy, and connection.
