The Ministry of Health announced on Friday that the number of injured people in the train collision, in the Tahta district, Sohag Governorate, rose to 91.
Dr. Khaled Mujahid, Spokesman for the Ministry of Health stated that they provided about 74 ambulances, noting that the casualties had been transferred to the evacuation hospitals: “Sohag General Hospital, Sohag Education Hospital, Tahta Hospital and Maragha Hospitall.
Moreover, Mujahid pointed out that the Minister of Health went to Sohag Governorate to follow up the health cases of the injured people, and to ensure that the best means of health care were provided to them.
On his part, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed his condolence to the families of the victims who passed away in the train crash accident.
“I closely followed up on the tragic accident that we saw today when two trains collided in Sohag Governorate,” Sisi tweeted.
Furthermore, he stressed that “a deterrent punishment shall be applied to everyone who caused this painful accident neither through negligence, corruption or something else, without exception, delay or procrastination.”
The collision of two trains took place in the city of Tahta in Sohag governorate, resulting in the derailment of 3 vehicles. About 36 citizens died in the train accident.
