The National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics Chief Gad El-Kady revealed that next Friday will mark the beginning of the winter season in the northern hemisphere and it will last for 89 days.
El-Kady pointed out that Friday's day will be the longest in the year as it will last for only 10 hours, while the night will last for 14 hours.
He added that the Sun is at its farthest below the horizon as measured from the pole. And people can test that as the shadow of the human will be the longest.
This day will also mark the climax of the winter, but it doesn't mean that it will be the coldest, according to El-Kady.
He continued that the coldness is related to the weather conditions in the earthly atmosphere, but it is related to the movement of the Earth around the sun.
