The health authorities in Norway and Denmark decided to limit using the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to only the people under 65 years old.
The lack of data about the efficiency of the vaccine for the old people is the main motive for this decision.
The head of the Norwegian public health agency (FHI) Camilla Stoltenberg revealed that the lack of data and documentation is the essential reason for making this decision.
On the other hand, both states will follow the same methodology of vaccination as the period between both vaccine doses will range between 9 and 12 weeks to provide better protection.
However, Norwegian and Danish authorities decided that people who are under 65 years old and suffer from severe medical conditions would be vaccinated by Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna instead of AstraZeneca.
Health authorities in Germany, France, and Sweden also decided to restrict the usage of the AstraZeneca vaccine to people under 65 years old as well.
