On Tuesday, Niger announced cutting its diplomatic ties with Ukraine "with immediate effect."
Niger is the second African country to make this decision after Mali. Mali cut its ties with Ukraine, accusing Kiev of "support" for “terrorist groups."
Niger's government spokesperson Amadou Abdramane said in a statement aired on television that “the referral to the United Nations Security Council with a view to ruling on Ukrainian aggression."
On its side, Mali said it cut diplomatic relations with Ukraine, after a military official said that Kyiv had played a role in a battle near the Algerian border last month.
