The French police yesterday, Thursday, only announced the name of the perpetrator of the Nice terror attack, his date of birth, and when he entered the country.
Moreover, the Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera published the first picture of the terrorist.
A young Tunisian named Ibrahim El Ouissawi, 20 years old, is currently in hospital after the police shot him following attacking citizens at Notre Dame Cathedral in the tourist city, which in 2016 also witnessed a shocking attack that killed 86 people from being run over.
The newspaper stated that the photo was taken of Ibrahim, holding number 104, at a police station in Bari, Italy, during the identification procedure, after he arrived on the island of Lampedusa in September 2020.
It also pointed out that he entered Bari on October 9, where the police arrested him and transferred him to the identification center, after he landed on September 20 with a group of other immigrants on an illegal boat, on the island of Lampedusa.
It is noteworthy that the French prosecution official in terrorism cases, Jean-Francois Ricard, announced Thursday evening that the bomber of the Nice attack, who killed three people, and others who were wounded, arrived by a train carrying an Italian Red Cross document.
He added in a press conference from Nice that the man arrived in the city by train on Thursday morning, then went to the church where he stabbed and killed the church servant (55 years old) and beheaded a woman (60 years old), noting that he also stabbed another woman (44 years old) who managed to escape to a nearby café before she breathed her last.
He also explained that the attacker is a Tunisian born in 1999, and arrived on September 20 on the Italian island of Lampedusa, the main destination for migrants from Africa. Meanwhile, a Tunisian security source and a French police source revealed that the suspect's name was Ibrahim El-Ouesawi.
He stated that the police arrived after that and confronted the attacker, shot him, and then he was transferred to hospital, in critical condition.
On his part, Mohsen El-Dali, the Tunisian judicial spokesman, confirmed to Reuters that El-Ouesawi was not classified as a hardliner before he left Tunisia, explaining that he left the country on an illegal immigration trip by boat on September 14th.
He said that the Tunisian authorities have opened an investigation into the Nice terror case.
