A video documenting the moment the Indian plane took off and crashed has gone viral on social media. Indian police announced that the death toll from the plane crash has risen to more than 290, according to Al Arabiya.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operated by Air India, crashed just minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport, en route to Gatwick Airport in England.
The Ahmedabad police chief said, "It appears that there are no survivors from the Indian plane crash."
The Ahmedabad police chief indicated that there were "casualties" on the ground at the crash site, near the airport. The victims included 169 Indians, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian who were on board the ill-fated plane.
