The beetroot, or simply beet, has a high nutritional value and is beneficial for everyone.
The vegetable provides high nutritional value to the elderly who have trouble chewing or swallowing. It is also rich in iron, calcium, carbohydrates, and antioxidants.
Egyptian Food Blogger Nepal Adib shared with "SEE" two ways to make the beet plant, especially since we are in season.
Adib noted it can be used as a salad or as dessert depending on the added components. Check out the recipe below:
Ingredients
-Half a cup of medium-sized boiled beetroot
-Half a of peel roasted or boiled potato (peel removed)
-2 teaspoons of yogurt
-A tablespoon of black honey
For salad:
Grated garlic
Dried coriander
Oil
For dessert:
Vanilla
Grated nuts as desired
Directions:
-Mix all ingredients until it becomes puree
-For eating as a dessert, add vanilla
-For eating as a salad, add the ingredients above, followed by oil on top
Note: Potatoes can be replaced with mashed potatoes for salads, consequently adding more carbohydrates.
