I respect Al-Ahly football Club, its administration, its fans and its achievements.. when Al-Ahly plays outside Egypt, we all support it. This week we all felt proud as the football team defeated the Auckland City team in the Club World Cup in Morocco. I was pleased with the enthusiasm and sense of responsibility as the team represents Egypt and this great entity is chaired by captain Mahmoud Al-Khatib..the decent person who has a long history of stardom and responsibility.
I write these lines hours before Al-Ahly’s second match with the Seattle Sounders FC, in which I also hope that Egypt will win, whose Al-Ahly players have their flag on their shirts in a new tradition for the first time in their foreign matches.
In fact, I noticed the secret of the Al-Ahly Club as an Egyptian social and educational institution for physical sports, and Al-Khatib’s management of the club has many achievements and has triumphed over difficult pitfalls and challenges relating to financing, development, modernization and player deals, in addition to nurturing young talents, educating and rehabilitating them, and giving a real opportunity to the experienced and trained eyes to sort in every sector.
Al-Ahly’s superiority in individual and team games is reflected in the Egyptian teams, as many names came out of Al-Ahly School in the hand, basket, swimming, athletics and individual games, so Egypt and Al-Ahly were honored!
Of course, any success of clubs' teams in international or African forums or local tournaments is a success for Egypt and a reflection of the success of the sports and youth administration, and its policy that is governed by the values and principles of expanding the base of participation. This is what the club benefited from during the decades of previous administrations in the mutual respect between the adminstration and the players. Matters relating to the club are discussed within the walls of the club clearly and transparently, but after making the decision in a civilized, democratic manner, it becomes binding on everyone, even those who objected to it!
My prayers are with Al-Ahly, its administration and its fans, I wish Al Ahly wins in the FIFA Club World Cup, so that we can achieve a new victory for Egyptian football!
