The gunman who executed a massive shooting at Michigan State University may have further plans to target two schools in New Jersey, media reports cited police sources on Thursday.
Anthony Dwayne McRae opened fire Monday evening on two parts of the university's campus. He was later found dead from a gunshot wound.
After McRae was found by police in Michigan, Police said that: “he had a note in his pocket that indicated a threat to two Ewing Public Schools."
MSU police confirmed McRae had a note, and Ewing police said that there is no threat to local schools.
On Monday, three people were killed and several others wounded in a shooting at Michigan State University Monday night, according to authorities.
Police reported that the suspected shooter is dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"There is no longer a threat on campus," Interim Michigan State Deputy Police Chief Chris Rozman said at a news conference. An earlier shelter-in-place order issued by police for the East Lansing campus was lifted.
Michigan State Police said the three confirmed dead were in addition to five people who were taken to hospital. Roseman said all five are in critical condition.
According to Roseman, two of the dead were on campus at Berkeley Hall and the third at the MSU Union. Berky is an academic building.
Police mentioned that the suspect was off-campus in Lansing and died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. "Our understanding is that the suspect was confronted by law enforcement," Roseman noted.
