Doctors Without Borders (in French: Médecins Sans Frontières), an international non-governmental organization working in the medical and humanitarian field, confirmed that rampant violence and huge health needs continue in Sudan, especially in Khartoum and Darfur, noting that insecurity hinders the humanitarian response.
And the organization warned - in a report today, Friday - that if the situation continues to worsen so it will be impossible for the organization to provide the appropriate medical and humanitarian response that the population desperately needs.
"People are dying while the country's health system is collapsing under the weight of overwhelming needs," said Jean-Nicolas Armstrong Dangelser, MSF's Emergency Coordinator.
He added that
by exposing people to appalling levels of violence, or by preventing medical organizations from helping them, the warring parties in Sudan are showing a complete disregard for civilian lives.
Danglaser added that despite the organization's work in 11 states, the scale of its activities in Sudan is in no way commensurate with the huge needs faced by the population.
