Scientists have discovered the most mutated COVID-19 strain in samples taken from Tanzanian citizens, Sputnik reported on Sunday.

Tulio de Oliveira, the director of Krisp scientific institute, said that the discovered genetic tests carried 10 more mutations of the virus more than all previously examined strains making it the most dangerous one.

He added that the new variant has been detected in three Tanzanian citizens who are now quarantined in Angola.

The scientist asserted that this variant is more infectious and transmittable. In addition, the recent vaccines couldn't be effective against it.

On the other hand, World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a report expressing its concerns over the new mutated version.

The country has recorded only 509 COVID-19 infections including 21 deaths without providing the international community with further details about the status of the pandemic in the country.
