Morocco... 1st Arab Country to Teach Jewish History

A Hebrew newspaper revealed Sunday that Morocco has agreed to teach "Jewish history" in its schools. Israel Hayom report said that “In a precedent in the Arab world, Jewish history and heritage will become part of the curricula in Morocco.”

The newspaper claimed that the Moroccan decision was taken secretly, even before the announcement of the normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel, alleging that this decision is an important and precedent change in the Arab world and a clear official step to improve the image of the Jew.

Last Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced that a historic agreement had been reached to resume relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv, within the framework of the US peace plan in the Middle East.

Moreover, Washington recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over the Western Sahara region, where Rabat and the Polisario Front are fighting.

This was followed by the announcement of the Moroccan monarch to resume official bilateral contacts and diplomatic relations with Israel as soon as possible, according to a statement issued by the royal court.

“This decision does not in any way affect the permanent and sustained commitment of Morocco in defending the just Palestinian cause and its constructive engagement for the sake of establishing a just and lasting peace in the Middle East,” the statement read.
