Today, celebrated actress Mona Zaki gave a warm and spontaneous talk at Cairo Industry Days. The session was presented by iconic TV presenter and Cinema journalist Raya Abirachid.
Zaki started her talk by explaining her relationship with cinema and acting saying: "When I was young, I watched the "13th Wife" film. I liked Shadia's character because she represented a contemporary form of the mythical Shahrazad."
Then she talked about her relationship with theater. She spent part of her childhood abroad, so the theater played a vital role in her life.
After that, Zaki explained what acting means to her; "acting is important to me, it gives me the chance to experience different worlds, and feel another people's lives."
Next, she asserted that the director is the most important person in the cast as he is the most capable one to organize and execute the project.
Furthermore, she mentioned her most favorite roles such as "Edhak El Sora Tetlaa' Helwa" (Laugh, the Photo May Look Nicer), "Sadat," "Ehky Ya Shahrazad" (Shahrazad, Tell Me a Story), and "Dam El Ghazal" (Deer Blood).
Regarding the most actresses she likes. She mentioned Menna Shalaby, Hend Sabry, Yasmin Abdel Aziz, and many of the rising young actresses such as Jamila Awad. She calls her generation the fighters' generation as they fought a lot to achieve their dreams.
Moreover, she discussed the current position of women films, revealing that she will make a new film produced by Mohamed Hefzy and directed by Hany Khalifa.
Zaki asserted the artist's humanitarian role, expressing that "Arts taught me to be a real human, and to communicate with the other."
Then, she highlighted her campaigns with the UNICEF for children's rights and children's development.
Finally, she talked about Faten Hamama, describing her as a real feminist icon with her gentle voice and charismatic look.
It is worthy to note that Zaki was awarded Faten Hamama Prize for Excellency at Cairo International Film Festival's opening ceremony two days ago.
