Minofya University is hosting 1500 members of Disability Challengers. For the second year, 1,500, male and female of Disability Challengers compete in the University Week hosted.
The competition kicked off on Sunday and it will run for six days. It comprises sports, arts, scouting and cultural activities.
The first week
The participants will compete in table tennis, heavy lifting, memorizing the Holy Koran, playing music instruments, scientific research, arts and others.
Eighteen state-run universities are participating in the competition.
It is worth to mention that the first week for university students of disability challengers began last year to embody a presidential initiative launched by President Abdel Fatah El Sisi to consider 2018 the year of disability challengers.
The presidential initiative aims to deepen values of sports spirits, acquaintance and solidarity among disability challengers of students of the Egyptian universities.
The students performed art and sports shows on opening the competition yesterday.
Skills and Talents
Dr Khalid Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education praised the shows performed by the students.
He said the shows reflect skills and talents of the students and the competition sends a message to millions of disability challengers in Egypt.
On his part, Dr Adel El Syyed Mubarak, President of Minofya University pointed out that a number of training centers have been opened to upgrade talents and skills of the students especially the disability challengers.
Students of sixteen universities compete in photography and painting.
A student of each university also will compete in memorizing the Holy Quran, sayings of Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) and Arab poetry.
