The Council of Ministers denied, on Thursday, the cancellation of the "midterm" exams in universities, coinciding with the second wave of the Coronavirus.
“News has spread on some websites and social media pages mentioning the decision of canceling the ‘midterm’ exams in universities, coinciding with the second wave of the Coronavirus,” according to a statement issued by the council.
“The council of ministers information has contacted the Ministry of Higher Education, which denied the news."
“These statements about canceling the ‘midterm’ exams are totally false. There is no decision that has been made regarding this issue,” the statement added. “In the same context, there are daily follow-up committees to find out the health status of students in universities all over the republic.”
“Everyone must continue to apply all precautionary measures by adhering to sterilization and wearing masks, taking into account the rules of social distancing among students,” the ministry stressed in the statement.
“The state is keen to preserve the health and safety of students and all members of the educational system.”
It confirmed that all examinations shall be held on their scheduled dates, according to their announced timeline, indicating that all universities are ready to conduct the exams, whether on paper or electronically.
It also urged all social media, including its users, to investigate the accuracy, and objectivity in publishing news, stating that they need to communicate with the concerned authorities to make sure before publishing baseless and false information, that might lead to confusion among university students, stressing that if there were any inquiries or complaints, the official website to the ministry is (portal.mohesr.gov.eg).
