Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, announced the selection of the Migratory Soaring Birds Conservation Project as a model for best practices for projects funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) for the year 2022
The project has achieved good results in the conservation of migratory soaring birds in the five main sectors (hunting, energy, tourism, agriculture and waste management) which directly affect migratory soaring birds along the Rift Valley/Red Sea migration pathway
The project has achieved many global environmental benefits through the development of government and private sector policies and practices across the five sectors, developing sector-specific guidelines for participation across countries in the migration route in order to raise awareness of migratory soaring bird conservation and build the capacity of local partner organizations
