Dr. Khalid Abdel-Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has decided to close all public and private universities along with institutes, tomorrow, Saturday, March 14.
Those educational institutions across the country will resume their activities the day after next, Sunday, March 15.
The decision includes students, professorate, and staff, and with the exception of work crews and others as determined by the university presidents.
The decision to close universities takes into account the conditions of the turbulent weather spell that the country is currently going through. The decision aims at enabling state institutions to deal with the effects of heavy rain.
Universities and institutes will work to eliminate the effects of heavy rain on some university buildings and facilities in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) warned of the instability of weather conditions in Egypt during the three from Thursdays to Saturday. A quasi hurricane and heavy rain hit in different parts of the country yesterday, today and tomorrow.
