Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, received Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and the Egyptian candidate for the position of Director General of UNESCO.
During the meeting, developments in the nomination campaign and the African and Arab support enjoyed by the Egyptian candidate were reviewed, in addition to the public support of many countries. The meeting also discussed the future action plan for the nomination campaign and the electoral vision that is scheduled to be presented to UNESCO this month, in preparation for the elections that will be held in October 2025.
Abdel Aty confirmed during the meeting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to mobilize regional and international support for the Egyptian candidate during the coming period, stressing Egypt’s right to obtain this high international position, taking into account its historical pioneering role at the educational, cultural and scientific levels, as well as its regional and international status.
