Minister: Egypt Has Pre-Prepared Plan to Deal with Omicron Variant

Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education said on Sunday that Egypt has a pre-prepared plan to deal with the omicron variant. 

 

"No worries about Omicron," Abdel Ghaffar added during the launching of the national campaign for polio vaccination, noting that all Egyptian hospitals are fully prepared to face any changes that may occur due to Omicron mutant.

Moreover, the minister stressed that the first three omicron cases detected in Egypt are completely stable, explaining that two of them are asymptomatic and the third one suffers minor symptoms.

It is worth mentioning that, on Saturday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 902 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 374,411.

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 21,315 nationwide after the ministry announced 38 deaths.

About 903 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 311,637.
