Health Min. Launches 1st Mental Health, Addiction Cure Services Platform

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health announced the launching of the first national platform for free mental health , and addiction cure services in Egypt.

Dr. Mona Abdel Maqsoud, the head of the Mental Health Secretariat, said that the platform targets providing free mental health counseling and addiction curing for all residents in Egypt.

She added that this platform is the first one in the region, and it was established as a mutual collaboration between Egyptian institutions and the Canadian British Colombia University. Therefore, it includes several experienced councilors, and therapists.

Moreover, those services will contribute in providing those kind of counciling for the biggest number of people, in addition, it will help in refuting all wrong stereotypes related to mental health and psychological disorders.

Regarding the sections of the website, it has three sections.

The first is for mental health awareness as it includes simple and professional information about psychology and mental health. On the other hand, it reviews the authorized centers for addiction cure, and their information.

Regarding the second, it is the section of online counciling as it introduces to the audience a survey for evaluating their condition, to link them with the suitable expert.

In addition, it will automatically transform the high risk cases to lifeline and mental health support.

Finally, it has a section for evaluating the performance of the platform, in addition to reviewing important statistics about users.
