On Wednesday, the Libyan Parliament voted by an overwhelming majority in favor of granting confidence to Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbaiba and his Government of National Unity.
In a move that is the first of its kind in Libya, Najla Mangoush was chosen as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to enter history as the first woman to occupy this position.

Mangoush worked as a lawyer in criminal law, a university professor, and a former employee of the National Transitional Council.
Manqoush holds a Ph.D. in conflict, peace and post-war crisis management, as well as specializing in peacebuilding and conflict analysis.
The female minister holds a master's degree in criminal law from the University of Benghazi, a master's degree in conflict and peace management from Eastern Mennonite University, USA, and a doctorate in conflict and peace management from George Mason University, USA.

She also received several certificates of appreciation, as well as scholarships for academic excellence, including the US Government Scholarship for Academic Excellence (SAE).
Manqoush was born and lived in the city of Benghazi, but her origins go back to the city of Misrata in the west.
