The ruling military council in Mali accused the French army of "espionage" and "sabotage" after the French General Staff published video footage taken by a drone near a base in central Mali that France recently returned.
The Malian government said in a statement that the authorities "have noticed since the beginning of the year more than fifty deliberate violations of national airspace by foreign aircraft, especially aircraft belonging to the French forces."
The statement issued by the Malian government's spokesman, Abdoulaye Maiga, stated that one of the latest incidents of "violation of national airspace" was the "illegal presence of a French forces drone on April 20, 2022, over the Gossi military base, over which control was transferred" to the Malian Armed Finance the day before.
