The centers for disease control and prevention say that the best way to clean your hands is by using soap and water. But sometimes that is not an option which leads us to using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol

Since the latest coronavirus developments announced by the World Health Organization, many countries including Italy and England have been on lock down. Which somehow made everyone else realize the seriousness of the situation.

Along with sanitizing wipes, alcohol sanitizing gel or liquid has been one of the most in-demand items nowadays especially as the panic spreads between people which of course made their prices skyrocket.

So if you don’t want to spend hundreds on a hand sanitizer, here is how to make your own at home

• Hand Sanitizing Gel

This recipe only requires three ingredients, (Isopropyl alcohol 91% or 99% alcohol but anything above 60% will work), aloe vera and essential oils (optional for scent).

Combine one cup of the isopropyl alcohol with half a cup of the aloe vera and up to 15 drops of the essential oil. Mix the ingredients together before placing the resulting gel in a travel appropriate container.

• Hand Sanitizing Liquid

To make this recipe you will need, 99.8% isopropyl alcohol, 3% hydrogen peroxide, 98% glycerin and sterile or distilled water.

Add one cup of the alcohol to 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and 1 teaspoon of glycerin. Stir and once the ingredients are combined add a quarter-cup, 1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon of the water before stirring again. Finally, place the resulting liquid in a reusable spray bottle.

•Surface Sanitizing liquid

For this recipe you will only need, water, lemons and vinegar.

Add the juice of two lemons and one cup of vinegar to one liter of water. Combine the ingredients together before placing the resulting liquid in an appropriate container or bottle.

Still, don’t forget to wash your hands regularly, cover your mouth and nose while sneezing and to avoid crowded places. Stay safe everyone!
