A few hours ago, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit Cyprus with no damages reported, according to Ekathimerini.
"It occurred at a moderately shallow depth of 60 km beneath the epicenter in the afternoon on Thursday 21 January 2021 at 4:27 pm local time," Volcano Discovery website.
Moreover, it was felt in various countries such as Greece, Turkey, and Israel according to the Jerusalem Post.
Also, it was recorded by the Egyptian National Seimisic Network (ENSN), supervised by the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics.
"Cyprus is an earthquake-prone zone but strong tremors are not common. The highest registered in recent years was a magnitude of 6.3 in 1996 but it caused little damage," Reuters highlighted.
