Iranian and Turkish media reported on Sunday that a magnitude-4.5 earthquake shook Iran’s northwest near the Turkish border this morning, there are no immediate reports of casualties so far.
The quake hit the region of Qotur in Iran’s West Azerbaijan. It struck at a shallow depth of 5 km (3 miles).
Earlier this month, a magnitude-6.1 earthquake hit in Alanya, Turkey, striking Lebanon and Egypt as well.
Citizens in Lebanon reported that an earthquake hit the country, as the inhabitants of the coastal regions felt a little tremor.
The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported that an earthquake hit the marine area southeast of Antalya and northwestern Cyprus, with a magnitude 6.1 at 63 km depth.
