A Finnish start-up company named Oura developed smart rings predicting an infection with Covid-19, even if the patient has mild symptoms, by measuring his temperature, according to Al-alarabiya report Today.
Oura ring measures patient's heart rate, using infrared lights on the inside of the ring to see the blood pulse, heart rate variability the time between heartbeats and how it varies over time, and the skin temperature.
Experts from the California and the "Mit Lincoln" laboratory University conducted studies on 50 people who have sensor rings developed by the Finnish company; they were infected with Covid-19.
On other hand, a study published from a project called "TeamPredict", was published showing more than 65,000 people wearing a "Oura" ring. The project which includes 65,000 people wearing an Oura ring, is aiming to develop an algorithm that can predict the onset of COVID-19 symptoms.
Also, the researchers expressed their hope to achieve this goal by the end of 2020. This will allow public health officials to work faster to contain the Covid-19 spread around the world.
