Office of France's President Emanuel Macron, issued a statement today, Friday, said that he won't attend the United Nations (UN) conference held this year to confront racism.
The statement indicated that there are fears that the conference becomes a platform against Jews and Israel.
The French presidency warns that it feels concerned for anti-Semitism (usually used to point out hatred against Israel and Jews) statements that were made the first conference of racism convened in Durban city in South Africa before twenty years.
However, in May this year, the Canadian government announced that it won't take part in the 2021 edition of the UN conference.
"CBC", a Canadian satellite channel, commented then on the government stance, saying that the international conference to fight racism of 2021, was a source of messages of hatred against Israel and Jews.
A spokesman for the Canadian government affirmed that his country joins the United States of America (USA) and Australia and other states, which declared that they aren't going to participate in an event of the upcoming conference.
He added that Canada still commits to raising human rights, assimilating all groups in society, fighting anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and all forms of racism.
He went on to say that Canada contradicts all initiatives in the UN and other forums which target Israel with criticism and bias against the Hebrew state.
The Canadian spokesman stressed that Canada feels worried that the UN conference was used to bring pressure on Israel and feed the antagonist feelings so it won't plan to attend the next forum held to mark the 20th anniversary of the Durban conference, known as Durban-1.
It is worth noting that the UN had adopted a resolution in the 70s of the 20th century that considered Zionism as a form of racism and condemned Israel for its occupation of the Palestinian territories.
