A high-ranking delegation from Swiss who is working on human development and sustainable industrial development approaches as well as the UNIDO representatives met on Thursday with the governor of Luxor Mustafa Elham to discuss Inclusive Green Growth in Egypt program.
During their meeting, the delegation affirmed support for economic growth and more efficient use of resources in Upper Egypt through the model of the green economy such as utilizing agricultural waste to create jobs and strengthen the livelihoods of communities.
Green Growth is an initiative by UNIDO in collaboration with the Swiss International cooperation institution that aims at promoting long-term sustainable development of the green industrial communities and mitigating the effects of climate change.
Moreover, the initiative aims at funding and providing entrepreneurship and business skills to youth to enable the people of Upper Egypt to start their own businesses as an alternative to chasing one of the few jobs available on the labor market.
