The moon welcomed a new era, or epoch called the lunar Anthropocene, according to researchers, the Independent reported on Tuesday.
Researchers said that humans did a lot of changes and plan to change the surface of the moon which should be considered a new era for the lunar world.
Researchers say that officially recognizing the changes that humans who landed on the moon.
The latest argument was published in a comment article in Nature Geoscience. Researchers say that this era supposedly started in 1959 when Russia’s Luna 2 spacecraft landed on its surface.
The lead author of the research Justin Holcomb, a geological researcher at the University of Kansas said: “The idea is much the same as the discussion of the Anthropocene on Earth – the exploration of how much humans have impacted our planet,” adding: “The consensus is on Earth the Anthropocene began at some point in the past, whether hundreds of thousands of years ago or in the 1950s.
“Similarly, on the moon, we argue the Lunar Anthropocene already has commenced, but we want to prevent massive damage or a delay of its recognition until we can measure a significant lunar halo caused by human activities, which would be too late.”
