Lula da Silva has been sworn in as president of Brazil for the third time, Sky News reported.
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will resume office on Sunday, with hopes of eradicating poverty and hunger and preserving the Amazon forest, amid great challenges left to him by his predecessor Jair Bolsonaro.
The outgoing president, the far-right Jair Bolsonaro, chose to travel to the United States and avoid handing over the presidential sash to his left-wing successor in person, amid strong political polarization, tension and concern about possible acts of violence, according to the Brazilian newspaper “O Globo”.
