Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher affirmed he is not afraid of the Egyptian international Mohamed Salah the Reds player's departure from Anfield, adding that there is an obstacle that may prevent him from joining the two biggest poles of Spanish football.
Salah has sparked controversy over the past few weeks about his future at the Reds, as he has shown his openness to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona in LaLiga.
According to the Mirror, Jamie Carragher has told the Egyptian King that he is too old to seal a dream move to Spain.
Carragher understands Salah's desire to test himself in La Liga, however he clarified that he believes cash-strapped Real and Barca would set their sights on Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland or even Salah's teammate Liverpool's Sadio Mane, if they had the money.
Carragher said: “Mo Salah is definitely one of those players who would look at his career and maybe want Barcelona or Real Madrid on his CV,"
“Some players look at their career like that. I think Eden Hazard always wanted to go to Real Madrid at some stage,"
“I wouldn't be surprised if a few years ago, when Mo Salah was mapping his career out, that is something he would like to have done," he added.
“But I think the situation now - financially and his age – means clubs don't have that kind of money for him,"
“You are talking in excess of £100million and I think Real Madrid and Barcelona would be looking at Mbappe or Haaland or even Mane ahead of Salah now because of his age," Carragher went on.
“Those two clubs are not flush with money and his contract still has some time to run at Liverpool,"
He then concluded his statements saying: “So I'm not fearful as a Liverpool fan that he is going to leave any time soon.”
