Since President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi launched the preliminary phase of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life” in January 2019, which aims to provide a decent life for the Egyptian people, the Ministry of Local Development (LDM) has played a pivotal role in its implementation.
The LDM established and managed the central unit of the initiative and entrusted it with the task of supervising the preliminary stage, which targeted 143 villages in which the poverty rate exceeded 70%.
Within a full year, the lDM, in coordination and cooperation with the ministries, governorates, concerned bodies, and civil society organizations, completed work in the 143 preliminary stage villages, with investments of about 4 billion pounds, benefiting about 1.8 million citizens.
The implementation of the first phase has begun, targeting 1477 villages distributed over 52 administrative centers, in which 18 million Egyptians live.
The investments of the first phase, during which 23 thousand projects are being implemented, have reached a cost exceeding about 350 billion pounds.
