Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is catastrophic, adding that it is quite clear that the current volume of humanitarian aid provided to the region is not sufficient.
Lavrov said, during a meeting with his counterparts from a number of member states of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, that “the current situation shows the extent of the disaster that can be caused by following a path that ignores international law,” according to what was reported by the Russian “TASS” news agency.
Lavrov added: "We are already witnessing catastrophic humanitarian consequences in the Gaza Strip. It is clear that humanitarian aid supplies are insufficient, and UN humanitarian agencies are sounding the alarm."
The chief Russian diplomat noted that, given the state of the conflict in the region today, the top priority “is to settle the pressing issues, specifically agreeing on a ceasefire, resolving the humanitarian issue, and releasing the hostages.”
