Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics confirmed that EU ministers will meet during the coming period with foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, explaining that Egypt is a very important partner in a number of regional and global challenges, one of which is the issue of security and migration.
The Latvian Foreign Minister explained in a press conference with Shoukry at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, on Sunday, that the energy file was addressed with new opportunities for cooperation with Egypt, noting that migration issues will be a subject of discussion between Egypt and the European Union during the coming period.
He also stressed that European Union must provide more support in light of the presence of refugees in Egypt amid the challenges of energy, terrorism and migration, which are files of great importance to Egypt.
The Latvian minister added that that developments in Libya and the Middle East were discussed.
Noteworthy, Shoukry welcomed Latvian Foreign Minister, who is currently visiting Cairo, pointing out that the official talks focused on aspects of bilateral ties.
In a joint press conference with his Latvian counterpart, Shoukry added that the amendment of the scientific agreement between both countries was signed, stressing Egypt's aspiration to benefit from Latvia's experiences during the recent period, as it has achieved tangible progress.
