The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Thursday that the next Gulf summit will be held on January 5, 2021, in Riyadh instead of Manama.
In a statement issued by Foreign Minister Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed, Kuwait stated that the summit will come in light of confirmation from all Gulf parties on unity, referring to the initial announcement of a reconciliation agreement between Qatar on the one hand, and Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Cairo and Manama on the other hand.
Minister Al-Mohammed and his deputy Khaled Al-Jarallah announced these developments during their reception of the Gulf ambassadors to Kuwait, who cut a huge cake bearing pictures of the flags of the six Gulf countries.
The opportunities for Gulf reconciliation reached an unprecedented level a few days ago, with a simultaneous announcement between Kuwait and the rival countries to reach fruitful talks to end the two-and-a-half-year-old dispute.
