On Tuesday, KSA's Al Nassr announced sacking its coach Luis Castro after the latest 1-1 draw with Iraq's Al Shorta in AFC Champions League opening fixture on Monday.
The club said in a statement that they decided to part ways with the Portuguese coach, wishing him the best of luck.
Last month, the Saudi newspaper Okaz reported that Al Nassr's administration have decided that Castro will not continue with the first football team.
The newspaper added that the Italian coach Stefano Pioli is the closest to fill the position.
Castro failed to lead Al Nassr to achieve any title during the 2023-24 season, including losing the final of the King's Cup, and Saudi Super Cup, and bidding farewell to the latest AFC Champions League from the quarter-finals.
Al-Nassr finished second in the Saudi Pro League, 14 points behind Al-Hilal, the champions.
