Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov affirmed, on Monday, that Russia is fully against the NATO peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
Peskov shattered any hopes of a peace deal with Ukraine, ruling out a meeting between President Vladimir Putin and President Volodymyr Zelensky until Kyiv accepts Russian terms, which include giving up a major slice of Ukrainian territory.
The Kremlin spokesman called on the Ukrainian side to “do its homework."
Peskov said the degree of progress from Ukraine in the peace talks was “not what we would like and not what the dynamics of the situation require from the Ukrainian side in order to talk about a meeting between the two presidents.”
“So far no significant progress has been made,” he said. “They would not have any agreements to commit to.”
Moreover, the spokesman called on other nations to pressure Ukraine to accept Russia's demands.
“Those who can, should use their influence on Kyiv to make Kyiv more cooperative, more constructive in these negotiations,” he said.
He also ruled out a cease-fire to enable talks, saying “nationalist groups use any pause to regroup and continue attacking Russian forces.”
