Korean Embassy in Cairo mourned, on Wednesday, the death of former president Roh Tae-woo and decided to hold a state funeral in his honor.

In a letter, the embassy informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all Missions and Consulates accredited to Egypt and offices of the United Nations Specialized Agencies, of its decision to hold a state funeral for the ex-president.

In this regard, the Korean embassy will open a Book Condolence in two ways; an in-person visit at the embassy’s headquarters on Thursday, or book condolence by e-mail to whoever would like to pay his condolence.

Roh Tae-woo died in hospital on Tuesday in the capital of Seoul, at the age of 88, due to complications from various illnesses after his condition worsened while dealing with a degenerative disorder, according to Kim Yon-su, head of Seoul National University Hospital.

The former president ruled South Korea from 1988-1993. He was a key participant in the December 1979 military coup that made his army friend and coup leader Chun Doo-hwan president.
