Former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger said that Japan could become a nuclear power within the next five years.

Kissinger said in an interview with the British magazine The Economist" that "there is a clear vision of the direction of the Japanese. They know their goal very well, and they are on their way to becoming a nuclear power within 5 years."

Kissinger added that Japan wants to be close to the United States of America (USA).

But he did not rule out the possibility of future arms deals that would not be in Washington's interest.

However, the former US Secretary of State continued, saying: He does not believe that Japan intends to be a permanent member of a multi-polar world system, given that a transformation of this kind would restrict it, limit its freedom, and cost it unlimited economic burdens.
