US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry said on Saturday that King Charles III should attend the United Nations (UN) climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh next month.
In an interview with "BBC", Kerry added that it would be "wonderful" if the British king were able to attend, stressing that he has been a "fantastic leader" on this issue.
"King Charles, when he was Prince of Wales, was planning to attend the COP27 climate conference in Egypt, but after ascending the throne, the king decided not to attend, on the advice of resigned Prime Minister Liz Terrace," US Special envoy added.
Kerry added that King Charles spent decades championing environmental and climate issues.
"But after he became the king of the country, he is subject to different rules, and the monarch obligates him to adhere to political neutrality, stressing that he does not consider advocating climate action a "political" act.
