The Korean Cultural Center in Egypt (KCC) in collaboration with Sejong Culture Academy, launched its first-ever ‘K-Beauty Workshop,’ scheduled to run until 17th July.
This premier event promises a day filled with beauty exploration, education, and hands-on experiences, running from 10 AM to 14:30 PM.
160 participants will enjoy interactive experiences while exploring current beauty trends in Korea through the 4-day workshop led by Dr. Jiwoo Choi, a Professor of Beauty Stylist Department, Yeonsung University.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the KCC is seeking to organize a wide range of events that offer participants the opportunity to get to know Korea's rich history, cuisine, traditional arts, and modern culture.
Oh, Sungho KCC Director said, it is meaningful to hold this event in collaboration with Sejong academy to offer an opportunity to the young Egyptians to explore a new feature of the Korean Culture, noting that Korean skincare and cosmetic products have become a worldwide phenomenon, revolutionizing the global beauty industry with innovative products and aesthetic trends.
He said that the rise of K-beauty is largely driven by the global popularity of Korean culture, known as the Hallyu wave, which includes K-pop, K-drama, K-cinema, and fashion. This trend led to an increase in global exports of Korean beauty products.
KCC director added that overseas sales of Korean beauty products rose 6.4 percent to $8.5 billion in 2023 from a year earlier. This marked the second-highest annual figure, following $9.2 billion in exports recorded in 2021.
Operated by The King Sejong Institute Foundation, the "Sejong Culture Academy" covers various topics from traditional culture, such as Gukak (Korean traditional music), Samulnori (Korean percussion music), and Hanji (Korean paper) Craft, to popular culture, such as K-Pop and K-Beauty.
