US Vice President Kamala Harris tested negative for the coronavirus after being in close contact with a White House official who contracted the virus, a spokesperson announced in a statement on Wednesday.
Harris is fully vaccinated and tested on a regular basis.
The Vice President's exposure comes days after US President Biden had close contact Friday with a “mid-level staffer” who then tested positive on Monday morning, according to White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
Neither the president nor the vice president has tested positive.
In a statement, Symone Sanders, the vice president’s chief spokesperson, stated that Harris received negative results Wednesday from antigen and PCR tests
“She will be tested again on Friday then again on Monday per CDC guidance,” Sanders added.
Sanders stated that the unnamed staff member, who was fully vaccinated and had a booster shot, received a positive coronavirus test result Wednesday morning after working with Harris throughout Tuesday.
The pair had previously tested negative and did not experience symptoms.
