World Population Day is observed every year on July 11 around the globe.

The day aims to increase individuals' awareness of several issues related to the global population. This includes poverty, gender inequality, family planning, human rights, and maternal health.

It was established by the then-Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989.

This year's theme is “Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world's infinite possibilities”.

According to the UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Natalia Kanem, this World Population Day is a reminder that we can achieve the prosperous, peaceful and sustainable future envisioned by the ICPD and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development if we harness the power of every human being on the planet

In May, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said that the number of the Egyptian population increased by about 220,000 people in 2023, making the total number of people living domestically 104,971,000.
