Al Ahly assistant coach, Cavin Johnson, will take charge of the team in their upcoming game against Ghazl El-Mahalla as Pitso Mosimane continues his journey to recovery from COVID-19.
Al Ahly fans woke up to very bad news on Wednesday morning, as they discovered that Pitso Mosimane had tested positive for coronavirus.
The South African manager is therefore expected to be sidelined for the upcoming two weeks, the standard time for full recovery from COVID-19.
As a result, his assistant manager Cavin Johnson will be the main man on the bench during their Friday night encounter against Ghazl El-Mahalla.
Johnson has his fair share of managerial experience, having been in charge of the likes of Platinum Stars, SuperSports United and lastly Black Leopards
He is also considered as one of the most prominent South African managers in the current footballing scene, having previously won two domestic cups with Amazulu FC. He also managed to finish second in his first and only this with Platinum Stars.
The Red Devils have won their first game of the 2020/2021 season against Misr El-Makkasa and will hope to repeat the result against historic rivals Ghazl El-Mahalla.
The game will take place on Friday December 18th at the Al Ahly Al-Salam WE Stadium at 19:30 local time.
