British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated, on Friday, that Russian President Vladimir Putin is making slow but palpable progress in the Donbas in east Ukraine.
"I'm afraid that Putin, at great cost to himself and to the Russian military, is continuing to chew through ground in Donbas," Johnson told Bloomberg UK.
"He's continuing to make gradual, slow, but I'm afraid palpable, progress and therefore it is absolutely vital that we continue to support the Ukrainians militarily."
In the same vein, Corriere Della Sera reported that Johnson offered to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the formation of a new international alliance against Russia.
He recommend forming a “new political, economic, and military alliance” to replace the EU, which would bring together nations displeased with Brussels’ stance and Germany’s moves against Moscow.
“The Prime Minister first presented the initiative to Volodymyr Zelenskyy when the Ukrainian president received him in Kyiv on April 9. The Boris Johnson model involves the creation of a European community led by the United Kingdom,” the report said.
