Japanese Emperor Naruhito released on Monday a statement for the new year, where he addressed the natural disasters the Japanese people suffered from.
The Japanese emperor expressed concern for those who impacted by natural disasters. He also mentioned the challenges of everyday life.
He also mentioned the wars the world see right now, including the war in Gaza.
He said: "I pray that the coming year will be a bright and hopeful one for people in our country and worldwide."
He added that his "heart ached for the many lives lost" in the wars and conflicts around the world, adding that these events "once again remind me of the importance of striving for mutual understanding and cooperation in order to build a peaceful world."
