Japanese Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada announced that he will hold talks with his US counterpart Lloyd Austin in Tokyo on June 1.
Hamada said that the talks will address concrete measures to enhance the deterrence and response capabilities of the Japanese-US alliance.
Hamada indicated that detailed talks will be held on the topics of the agenda of the "2+2" meeting held in Washington last January between the defense and foreign ministers of the two countries.
Noteworthy, Austin's visit to Japan will be the first since March 2021.
