Japan confirmed on Thursday its first two cases of COVID-19 'mu' variant, according to Health Ministry.
'Mu' was designated by the World Heath Organization (WHO) as a variant of interest.
In a statement, the ministry noted that it detected the variant in two women, who arrived in Japan on July 5 from the U.K.
It is worth mentioning that, Johns Hopkins University announced on Thursday that 218.22 million people were infected with Coronavirus worldwide, including 4,704,116 million deaths.
